Great size, fits more than I tought, I put a big packing cube and had room for more.

It’s been my work bag and I just love how water and dust just glide right off the material, plus it’s got a bunch of clothes changes and it still got space for more

I love the lightweight of the pack while still having a decent, comfortable harness system. The organization is minimal, but practical and fits the purpose of this light daypack. The water bottle mesh is good quality but is a bit too wide. I would love to see an update for a little better water bottle retention. The zipper pulls are a bit short for my taste, and because they do not have 2 holes, I am unable to add any aftermarket zipper pulls. The final nitpick is not about the bag, but about the fluctuating price. At the time of this review the pack fluctuates in price (with no sale or promotion) by $25 back and forth every few days. I was disappointed that I paid the higher price, to only see the pack lowered in price several times since I purchased it.

My backpack has been great since purchased. I love the material used because it's anti scratch and scuff.

This backpack has everything you need in one! It's spacious, lightweight, sturdy, and waterproof. It's now my go-to backpack to bring during travel AND while commuting to work in the city. It's so comfortable on my back and fits everything I need (AND MORE)! Plus, I'm ready for whatever weather comes my way. Highly recommend - it really is a standout backpack compared to others! I used this backpack on my trip to Austria. It was a great personal item. I needed to maximize my luggage allowance while remaining within the airline limits of what I could bring, so I packed my Tortuga Travel Backpack Lite as my carryon and the Day Pack Pro as a personal item. I liked the two backpack look since it made me feel like a “true” backpacker (lol), but it also gave me piece of mind knowing that Tortuga's bag sizes are accurate for airlines. Despite carrying two bags, I had no problems with immigration due to their size and the day pack pro made it easy for me to take my laptop and liquids in and out during the screening. After I arrived in Austria, the Daypack Pro proved to be really useful. It came with me everywhere. I took it to the gym, hiking, and even lake trips, and I intend to take it on my upcoming overnight train trip. I like how the backpack easily fits my laptop because of the designated storage, but it still has a large main compartment. Most importantly, I enjoy that the bag is lightweight. When I'm not using it, I put it in my Travel Backpack Lite, and the weight is not even noticeable.

The Tortuga Daypack Pro has become my favorite backpack for both travel and everyday use. Great balance of high-quality materials but is still incredibly light and compact, making it perfect for any trip. On my recent weekend getaway to Los Angeles, it easily fit inside my carry-on and then served as my daypack for exploring the city.

At home, I use it in my daily routines like going to work at a coffee shop, it fits my laptop, notebook, and lunch without a problem.

For being so light I'm surprised at the quality and comfort of the straps and back panel.,

I absolutely love this thing. I can't believe that it only weighs a pound. It's burly, strong, comfortable and the capacity is huge. It's making for great EDC, which is impressive because I work outdoors but also need to carry techs/books for other work projects. The waterproof zippers aren't difficult to open and the water bottle pockets have been great. I transported a glass vase of tulips in one of the pockets yesterday and the flowers made it home without damage or tipping. I can't wait to travel with it. It fits perfectly inside of my Expandable travel pack. The one travrl-related bummer is that I was hoping to slide it into the laptop section of the Expandable, but the false bottom for the laptop section in the Expandable means this pack is just slightly too long for that section. But if you have one of the bigger travel packs, I suspect it'll fit in the laptop section. If you have the Expandable, it's a great fit in both the zipped and main compartments. I hope that Tortuga brings back this backpack-- there isn't anything else this lightweight, beasty and versatile on the market!

This is not a backpack for everyone, and I think that’s actually one of its strengths. You really need to know exactly what you’re looking for to fully appreciate it.

For me, I was specifically searching for something extremely lightweight (1 lb threshold) that I could pack inside my one-bag travel backpack and use as a dedicated daypack at my destination. I tried the Unbound Merino UltraSlim backpack, and while I liked its structure and design, it ended up being a bit heavier than what I wanted for this purpose. On the other end of the spectrum, most packable daypacks have no structure at all, which is a complete no-go for me—especially when carrying tech.

What makes the Tortuga Daypack Pro so rare is that it manages to be genuinely lightweight while still offering serious laptop padding and protection. That combination is incredibly hard to find. The laptop compartment is well padded, structured, and secure—far more than I expected for a bag in this weight class. My laptop feels protected whether I’m using it as a daypack walking around a city or pulling it out during flights and airport transitions.

Because I work remotely, laptop protection is non-negotiable. I carry my laptop everywhere—on flights, in cafés, coworking spaces, and during full days of exploring. This bag gives me peace of mind that my laptop is protected without forcing me to carry something heavy or bulky.

If you’re looking for a primary backpack, a hiking pack, or a heavily structured everyday carry bag, this probably isn’t for you. But if you’re a one-bag traveler who wants a lightweight secondary daypack that still treats your laptop like a priority, this is an exceptionally well-designed and surprisingly rare solution.

For my specific use case, it’s exactly what I was looking for.

Lightweight, packable, comfortable, and with structure

The backpack has a very good quality, and I like how light it was. However, it may not fit my needs because it is small and after packing some stuff, it feels uncomfortable to carry. It is also a great backpack for rain.

This is a fabulous packable backpack. It allows me to go to and from offices on the road with class. And it holds my 16" laptop with ease. I only wish Tortuga would take this lightweight concept and apply it to a 35 liter travel backpack. GREAT BAG!

I just purchased this bag, and I’m excited to receive it. One suggestion for the web page, is to include the specs on the top pocket. I’m looking at organizer pouches, and the dimensions on that pocket would be helpful in making my decision. Thanks so much.

I purchased the Daypack Pro to replace my Setout Laptop Backpack that seems to have been discontinued. After 5+ years of near-daily use bicycle commuting and monthly weekend excursions across the country/abroad, the stitching at the seam of one of the straps began to fail. I like the material on this new bag as it appears much more water resistant than my previous bag. Looking forward to using this one for the next 5+ years. I'm removing a star, because the storage pockets that I used to organize everything in my travels and daily commute were removed with this new design. I had to purchase a separate tech organizer to make up for it, but that may be still beneficial for when I need to shed weight on shorter commutes/overnight trips.

It’s been over a month now that I’ve used this bag daily for my 10 minute walk/bike ride to or from work. It’s super sturdy, truly rain resistant, and my laptop fits snugly (which is ideal so it’s not flopping around loosely). I read other reviews that the water bottle holders on each side are too loose or short for securely holding a typical water bottle. Since I knew this going into my purchase I just don’t use it for water bottles it’s for easy to grab things like my ID badge or my bike lock keys. Anyway, it’s been perfect for me so far and I have a feeling it will be a long term investment that will serve me well and for a variety of adventures.

The backpack is stunning, the sail cloth material is superb. It is very comfortable. I purchased it as an addition to my Travel Backpack 40L Lite and my Packable Backpack. I wish they would make a Daypack Lite! :)

Love this backpack! It holds a lot of stuff and is great for commuting to work on my bike. Even has room for groceries on my way home. I also appreciate the waterproof exterior for biking on light rainy days. Highly recommend!

I got this as part of an All the Hacks Trip. I've used the same backpack for travel for more than a decade, and I took a chance on this instead, and was super happy. It's light, waterproof, classy looking - great for both cities and hikes. My other backpack has a secret flat pocket for my passport under the strap against my back - that's the only thing I'd add for travel.
